About KLD Indexes
KLD Indexes is a unit of KLD Research & Analytics, Inc. It develops socially responsible and sustainability indexes which can be licensed for the creation of investment products.
KLD’s indexes are designed to be transparent, representative and investable.
Currently, more than $11 billion is invested in funds based on KLD's indexes.
History
In 1990, KLD created the Domini 400 Social Index (DS400)- the first socially responsible investment benchmark - to measure how social and environmental screens affect investment performance. The DS400 has generated the most complete data available on the risk, return and financial characteristics of SRI portfolios.
Over the years, KLD has created a family of indexes to provide investors with a variety of ways to integrate environmental, social and governance factors into their investment decisions. KLD Indexes also creates custom indexes to meet specific client requirements.
Index Governance
KLD's indexes are maintained with rules-based methodologies to ensure their integrity and consistency. A dedicated committee, made up of research and technical personnel from KLD Research & Analytics and KLD Indexes, manages each index in accordance with its policies and procedures.
KLD Research
KLD Indexes receives its research from KLD Research & Analytics, the leading provider of environmental, social and governance (ESG) research for institutional investors. Featuring one of the largest and most experienced ESG investment research staffs in the world, KLD’s indexes are constructed with the integrity and quality research that investors have relied on since 1988.
