BOSTON,
MA - June 21, 2006 - KLD Indexes announced today changes to the
Domini 400 Social Index, KLD Global Climate 100 Index, KLD Broad
Market Social Index, KLD Large Cap Social Index and KLD Select Social
Index for May 2006. KLD Indexes is a division of KLD Research &
Analytics, Inc., an independent investment research firm.
Domini 400 Social
Index:
- ProLogis (NYSE: PLD)
replaced Pixar (PIXR) on the DS 400 after the close of trading
on May 5, 2006. KLD Indexes removed Pixar because it was acquired
by The Walt Disney Company. ProLogis is a real estate investment
trust company that owns, manages and develops industrial distribution
and supply chain properties in Europe, North America and Asia.
KLD Indexes added ProLogis because it redevelops brownfields
sites, incorporates sustainable development into the designs
of its industrial projects and used sustainable building practices
for its new energy efficient headquarters.
- The McClatchy Company
(NYSE: MNI) replaced Visteon Corporation (NYSE:VC) on the DS
400 after the close of trading on May 18, 2006. KLD Indexes
removed Visteon because of deteriorating financial quality.
The McClatchy Company publishes newspapers, runs a direct marketing
business and hosts websites for each of its newspapers. KLD
Indexes added McClatchy because of its reputation for quality
journalism and its strong union relations.
- CIT Group, Inc. (NYSE:
CIT) replaced Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA) on the DS
400 after the close of trading on May 18, 2006. KLD Indexes
removed Comcast because of poor union relations, questionable
corporate governance practices and marketing concerns. KLD Indexes
added CIT Group because of its commitment to workplace diversity
and its small business lending program.

KLD Global Climate
100 Index:
- Deutsche Telekom AG
(Xetra: DTE) replaced Arden Realty, Inc. (NYSE: ARI) on the
GC 100 after the close of trading on May 2, 2006. KLD Indexes
removed Arden Realty because it was acquired by General Electric.
KLD Indexes added Deutsche Telekom because it has a fleet of
several hundred natural gas vehicles, has comprehensive energy
optimization initiatives at several thousand facilities and
obtains a substantial amount of electricity from renewable sources.
- Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd.
(Tokyo: 4204) replaced Hyundai Motor Company (Korea SE: 005380)
on the GC 100 after the close of trading on May 15, 2006. KLD
Indexes removed Hyundai because of deteriorating financials
and corporate governance concerns. KLD Indexes added Sekisui
because the company has sold more than 40,000 homes equipped
with solar systems and comprehensive energy efficiency measures.
- Q-Cells AG (Xetra:
QCE) replaced Suzlon Energy Limited (Mumbai: SUEL) on the GC
100 after the close of trading on May 15, 2006. KLD Indexes
removed Suzlon because of foreign ownership restrictions. KLD
Indexes added Q-Cells because substantially all of its revenues
are derived from solar technology development and solar cell
systems manufacturing. In 2005, Q-Cells had the second largest
planned solar cell production and solar cell capacity in the
world.
- Air Products & Chemicals,
Inc. (NYSE: APD) replaced Xantrex Technology Inc. (Toronto:
XTX) on the GC 100 after the close of trading on May 24, 2006.
KLD Indexes removed Xantrex because of liquidity issues*.
KLD Indexes added Air Products because it is a major global
supplier of hydrogen gas, controlling approximately 50% of the
global market share for merchant hydrogen. Hydrogen gas is a
clean energy source used for fuel cell production.
- Abengoa SA (Spanish
Continuous: ABG) replaced Hydrogenics Corporation (Toronto:
HYG) on the GC 100 after the close of trading on May 24, 2006.
KLD Indexes removed Hydrogenics because of liquidity issues*.
KLD Indexes added Abengoa because it is one of the world’s largest
ethanol producers and is engaged in fuel cell technology research
and development.
- Itron, Inc.
(NASDAQ: ITRI) replaced Beacon Power Corporation (NASDAQ: BCON)
on the GC 100 after the close of trading on May 31, 2006. KLD
Indexes removed Beacon Power because of liquidity issues*.
KLD Indexes added Itron because it develops and manufactures
optimization software for energy management that facilitates
reduced consumption and cost savings. As of June 2005, approximately
3,000 utility companies worldwide used Itron’s electricity metering
and energy management technologies.
- Whole Foods Market, Inc.
(NASDAQ: WFMI) replaced UQM Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: UQM) on
the GC 100 after the close of trading on May 31, 2006. KLD Indexes
removed UQM because of liquidity issues*.
KLD Indexes added Whole Foods because, as of March 2006, the
company met 100% of its energy needs using clean and renewable
sources, making it the largest corporate consumer of renewable
energy in the United States.
