Data and Indicators
KLD STATS includes over 90 positive and negative indicators in seven stakeholder or social issue areas including: Community, Corporate Governance, Diversity, Employee Relations, Environment, Human Rights, and Product. The data set also includes over 20 indicators in the following controversial business issues: Alcohol, Firearms, Gambling, Military, Nuclear Power, and Tobacco.
Data Period
The KLD STATS data is published once at the end of each calendar year. The data is a snapshot of a company’s social and environmental performance at that moment in time.
File Format
Each year of KLD STATS data is delivered in a spreadsheet with a record for each company. Within the spreadsheet there is a column for each of KLD’s indicators with a binary (1/0), yes/no value indicating whether the company was assigned that indicator.
The data file includes a unique company ID to track a company’s performance and index membership over time. In addition to this unique identifier, CUSIP, Ticker and Company Name are also provided.
KLD provides full documentation of its indicator criteria to accompany the data.
